Day 1 - Morning

Bible Verses
Some verses are really long and I have only included a verse or two from the reading passage. The links for the entire passage can be found by clicking the KJV link for the King James version and NLT link for the New Living Translation version.

Old Testament : 2 Chronicles 29: 1-36 KJV NLT 1. Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.

Currently I have been watching the just recently canceled series Kings, where they have brought to current day the King David and King Saul of the Bible. I found it quite coincidental that this story of Hezekiah as king, was my first reading. In this passage, it appears to me that he wanted to emulate the actions of his predecessor, David, and make sure he was pleasing God , foremost by completing them. Hezekiah wanted to bring up from the ashes, the society that had existed prior to the wrongful doings that they were participating in. He was determined to include all groups and they were ready to act . As a a result the Temple of the Lord was restored and all was well. It kind of reminds me of what our president and so many other leaders are trying to do. Look to the past and to others for wisdom, in order to see how things that may look so bleak can become new again. In our own individual lives, we should do that as well. Listening to our elders is very important (especially before it is too late).Working together despite our differences is vital to civilization. That is why God made us different. Last night on Larry King , Al Sharpton ( who I hardly listen to) mentioned how he appreciated what President Obama tried to do with the Gates issue and that it was a venue in which people agreed to disagree. Now let's work on solving the problem together.

I often found it good to say psalms in the morning as a a prayer and to rejoice in who God is and praise him for what he has done.

Psalm 24: 1-10 KJV NLT

Psalm 24

A psalm of David.

1 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to him.
2 For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas
and built it on the ocean depths.

3 Who may climb the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure,
who do not worship idols and never tell lies.
5 They will receive the Lord’s blessing
and have a right relationship with God their savior.
6 Such people may seek you
and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob.Interlude

7 Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors,
and let the King of glory enter.
8 Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty;
the Lord, invincible in battle.
9 Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors,
and let the King of glory enter.
10 Who is the King of glory? The Lord of Heaven’s Armies—
he is the King of glory.
